Guest Editorial: AI and 6G Convergence: An Energy Efficiency Perspective

نویسندگان

چکیده

Nowadays, researchers have started to conceptualize 6G with the vision of connecting everything, transmission over millimeter-wave (mmWave) and THz, integrating sensing, communication, computation, control functionalities. The resultant technical network complexity puts considerable pressure on energy efficiency sustainability.

Guest Editorial Energy-Efficiency in Optical Networks

THE increasing concern for environmental and cost issues has made energy efficiency in telecom networks an important theme. According to a recent report [1], today’s networks are wasting a lot of energy by consuming 10,000 times more energy than what is really needed. The Internet currently consumes about 0.4% of the total electricity in broadband-enabled countries and is foreseen to quickly re...

Energy harvesting communications: Part III [Guest Editorial]

as a promising approach to enable self-sufficient and self-sustaining operation for devices in energy-constrained networks by scavenging energy from the ambient environment to power up devices. In particular, for wireless sensor networks, if the sensors, which spread throughout homes or factories, in buildings or even outdoors, are powered by energy harvesting, there are no batteries to replace...
